ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR

Do you hold an Assistant Instructor certification from a recognized diving school? By completing the Professional Training Program, you can earn your Diverse Ability Assistant Instructor certification.

The Assistant Instructor certification represents the second level of Diverse Ability professional training: in addition to the qualifications required for the Diverse Ability Divemaster level, the certification will enable you to conduct parts of the training program required for diverse ability courses for people with disabilities, under the direct supervision of a Diverse Ability instructor.

Professional Training Program (PTP)

THE PROGRAM

The Professional Training Program is a unique and engaging program that provides candidates with solid training in diving for people with disabilities, applying a methodology based on direct experience.

The courses are organized throughout Italy by Diverse Ability Instructor Trainers. Each PTP lasts a minimum of 20 hours and is completed over two days. It consists of a theoretical and a practical part.

  1. Academic Session – During the academic session, candidates examine in detail the concept of disability and its psychological implications, the types of disabilities, Diverse Ability teaching and courses, and the methods and techniques for diving with divers with disabilities. The session concludes with a theoretical exam.
  2. Practical Session – The practical session is divided into three modules: in the first, candidates experience various motor and sensory disabilities themselves. In the second, candidates undertake scuba dives with certified divers with motor and sensory disabilities. Finally, they participate in a Diverse Ability Day event, which aims to give candidates the opportunity to experience a scuba diving experience with people with disabilities (Try Scuba Diving).
