DISABILITY AWARENESS ACTIVITY

Helping students understand disability.

Diverse Ability offers an unusual and fun practical lesson aimed at middle and high school students. The goal is to spark spontaneous reflections by experimenting, through simulations led by Diverse Ability professionals, some of the most frequent disability conditions, such as quadriplegia among physical disabilities and blindness among sensory disabilities.

The experience lived on their own skin will help students to better understand the small and large difficulties that often arise as a discriminating limit for the correct integration of people, not only in the sports field but more generally in the social context in which we live.

“The experience offered to students enhances the sense of inclusion and the spirit of collaboration through motor activities useful for understanding the condition of disability and the importance of teamwork, respecting one’s own and others’ diversity, and the implementation of good practices of solidarity and collaboration.”
